Create a Buzz! Electricity & Magnetism for Primary Schools Enquire Now A hands-on workshop where students experience electricity & magnetism first-hand. The workshop covers static and current electricity, magnetic repulsion and attraction, electromagnetism, simple circuits and renewable energies. See 100,000 volts discharged in a flash and conduct electricity through the palm of your hand – a ‘hair-raising’ experience! Construct & learn about series vs. parallel circuits Discuss static vs. current electricity Learn how electromagnetism works Predict the movement of magnets based on their polarity and more Available as a primary school science incursion within Australia or as a video conference to any school around the globe! OPTION: We can focus only on either Electricity or Magnetism if needed, just let us know your curriculum needs! Trustpilot Online Class Version We’ve run live interactive distance programs since 2010 and are highly experienced in making online classes engaging for students on a variety of web conferencing platforms. All of the same curriculum points will be covered, but the activities may vary from those listed for face-to-face incursions. Our online classes include demonstrations, Q&A, and hands-on activities (you will receive a materials list upon booking). Full child protections are in place We usually connect to classes & homes via Zoom, however if you wish to use a different software we can work with you on getting the connection live. If you connect with us via Zoom Full system requirements for Zoom here Each student should test their Zoom connection here. Once the date & time is arranged we will send you simple connection instructions (one click & you’re in!) The students learned lots and enjoyed the day. Highly recommended. Kanwal Public School Feedback on: Create a Buzz We would like to let you know that the children enjoyed themselves and there was a lot of discussion afterwards about different activities, especially the 'hair raising' ones. We would also like to let Holly know that she was wonderful, 'outstanding' actually and presented the workshops in such an interesting and engaging manner for the students. The teachers were very impressed. So thanks very much! Science Show Demonstrations Bumper Cars Magnetic North and South Poles in a different way! Which electricity workshop is right for me? As we offer a number of electricity workshops it can be a little confusing as to which is right for your class. Please have a look below for a very short description of the different ones available so you can quickly see what would work best for your school. The titles are clickable links to take you to the full workshop description. Create a Buzz This workshop covers the fundamentals of electricity & magnetism. What is static vs current electricity? What is electromagnetism? What materials are resistors vs. conductors? How do basic circuits work? Most schools choose this school science visit when they want us to spend time at the beginning of their topic prior to having students construct their own circuits later. Electrical circuits This school workshop is generally chosen when students already have a grasp of how electrical energy is transferred. The focus of this workshop is to arrange electrical components such as lights, batteries, capacitors, switches and more to produce either series or parallel circuits that work. Madlab Electronics In some ways similar to the electrical circuits program, only this time the circuits themselves are being constructed using soldering irons. The focus of this workshop is learning the skills and techniques for putting electrical circuits together in real electronics. Students can keep the circuits they make as part of this workshop. Renewable Energy The focus of this workshop is to look at how electricity can be generated using renewable energy sources (wind, solar etc.). These energy sources are compared with non-renewable electrical energy power generation in terms of reliability and their effect on the environment. Are you studying energy transformations instead? If your class is looking at potential vs. kinetic energy, how energy comes from the sun as well as how energy can change into light, heat, sound, magnetic, chemical etc., the most appropriate workshop would be Exploring Energy.
