Providing science enrichment classes for students makes a huge difference for students, not only for the understanding of science but also in their appreciation of how science fits in their world. For the past 7 years, Desille Tait and Dr Hayden Allbutt have worked with the students of Loreto Kirribilli to provide extension classes for students with great success. We chat with them to find out what they’ve been up to!

Desilee is a passionate teacher and educator constantly seeking to develop her skills and knowledge. Desilee has completed her Masters in Gifted Education at Charles Sturt University and is an accredited Educational Coach. In 2016 she was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to further study High potential students in America and Singapore. At present, she is currently employed at Loreto Kirribilli as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator K-12

About Dr Haydn Allbutt

Dr Haydn Allbutt headshot

Dr Haydn Allbutt is a Lecturer on Physiology at the School of Medical Sciences for the University of Sydney Bosch Institute. His principal research is on the causes of neurodegenerative diseases For the past 7 years he has worked with Desilee to provide science enrichment classes with the students at Loreto Kirribilli.

With interviews with leading science educators and STEM thought leaders, this science education podcast is about highlighting different ways of teaching kids within and beyond the classroom. It’s not just about educational practice & pedagogy, it’s about inspiring new ideas & challenging conventions of how students can learn about their world!
