About

Meet Craig McGrogan, an incredibly dedicated environmental educator at Reef HQ Aquarium who for many years has run science workshops, citizen science and ecotourism programs in the heart of tropical north QLD. Reef HQ Aquarium is the National Education Center for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority whose mission is to inspire everyone to protect and conserve the world’s largest reef system.

 

In this episode, we chat about the educational school programs on offer, how tertiary students from across the globe can engage in real science on the reef itself as well as their multi-award-winning distance education program that Craig delivers globally whilst diving in their aquarium.

Craig McGrogan is the Senior Education Officer at Reef HQ Aquarium, the National Education Centre for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority. In addition to a daily programme of talks and tours offered to the visiting public, Reef HQ Aquarium also offers tailored educational programmes for schools from foundation to tertiary level. As part of the Aquarium’s digital outreach education, Craig enjoys getting underwater to present the Reef Videoconferencing programme to schools around Australia and internationally. Reef HQ Aquarium is also a member of the Townsville North Queensland EduTourism consortium, which delivers tailored experiential learning programmes for faculty-led study abroad groups within the local Townsville region.
