Fun summer science experiments! Follow FizzicsEd Articles: Comments 0 Summer science experiments are always great fun for kids on holidays. The following science experiments have been tried & tested with kids who’ve been searching for ways to keep cool! Make ice-cream A summer science experiment favourite! Making ice-cream is a cinch; yes you could use an ice-cream maker however kids really enjoy crafting their own ice-cream creations when they do it all themselves. The bonus is that they will also learn the science behind crystal formation! Create instant icicles This one will blow kids minds! With a few clean bottles, some water and a freezer you can create an almost ‘magical’ effect for kids as you pour supercooled liquid onto a plate and it freezes into stalagmites instantly. A classic summer science experiment that kids will always remember. Which freezes first… hot or cold water? This summer science experiment might have them guessing! It’s so simple to set up but the result speaks a lot what is going on with changes in states of matter. Go on, give have a guess and check the results yourself! Create Cube-shaped Bubbles Playing with bubbles outside on a hot day is always great fun! Why not add an extra dimension to this summer activity and make it a maths & science experiment too? Grab your pipe cleaners and bubble mix to discover more about surface tension and prisms. Pizza box solar oven This seriously works! Save last night’s pizza box and create a pizza box solar oven science experiment that can melt chocolate. Both a fantastic reason to do some summer science… and eat more pizza at the same time 🙂 Make a simple thermometer Measure the heat of summer with some simple household materials. How accurate can you make your thermometer? Do your kids want more science? Check out our holiday science programs! Happy teaching, Ben Newsome Love Science? Subscribe!
