Halloween science – 10 festive experiments for the classroom! Follow FizzicsEd Articles: Comments 0 It’s Halloween! While I am well past the age of trick-or-treating, this is still one holiday I love getting into. So upon finding this video a while ago, I thought “Hey, I wonder what other experiments I can put a Halloween spin on..?” So here is a list compiled from our Free Experiments section of activities you may like to consider adding to your line up of festivities! Fake Blood! Our favourite recipe is chocolate topping with red food colouring (with a tiny drop of blue). But if you want to make it more educational, check out this fun and tasty hands-on activity about the different components of blood! Slime! Classic, and adds dribbly grossness to everything! Dancing Worms! Replace the raisins in this experiment with gummy worms and watch them wriggle around as if they’re alive! Glowing flubber! Add a crushed up Vitamin B tablet to the water before you heat the mixture, and it will glow under a blacklight! Pumpkin Volcano! Another well-loved experiment, why not pop it in a hollowed-out pumpkin or your expertly-carved jack-o-lantern and watch it explode and froth! Spooky notes! Messages left by spirits? Or just some fun science! Static ghoulies! Switch the can for scary tissue paper cutouts and watch them move and float all on their own! Alien eggs! This article suggests a great way to turn the naked egg experiment into a creepy display with some extra food colouring and corn syrup! Flying tea bag ghosts! Decorate the teabag before lighting it with a match! I recommend a spooky ghost face! Rising ghosts Decorate the teabag before lighting it with a match! I recommend a spooky ghost face! Happy Halloween! Jacqui Love Science? Subscribe! Join our newsletter Receive more lesson plans and fun science ideas.
