Helping to raise CAST test scores with Magnitude Follow FizzicsEd Articles: Comments 0 Fizzics Education is working with Magnitude.io to help teachers improve the outcomes of grade 5 students in Lodi Unified school district. Commencing February 26, we will be presenting live science demonstrations specifically designed to highlight scientific thinking, variable testing and changes in states of matter at 20 schools with grade 5 students. Teachers and students will use the States of Matter Unit of work, where hands-on experiments that teach students about experimental design and critical thinking using simple materials are at the heart of the on-demand lessons. What is the California Science Test (CAST)? The California Science Test (CAS) is designed to assess how well students have understood and can apply the concepts taught in the The California Science Test (CAST) is an online assessment based on the California Next Generation Science Standards (CA NGSS) These standards emphasize a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, scientific inquiry, and the ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world problems. The CAST is administered in grades five and eight and once to each student while that student is in high school. The results from the CAST can help educators evaluate the effectiveness of their science teaching methods and curriculum. Helping students excel The role of Fizzics Education and Magnitude.io is to help grade 5 students in Lodi excel in the CAST test. With both onsite shows and hands-on learning modules in the Magnitude LMS, we are aiming to quantify a real uplift in student science understanding as well as excite these students to consider opportunities in STEM in their later schooling and careers. We kick this off at the NorCal Science Festival! The NorCal Science & Technology Festival is a free one-day celebration of science featuring lectures, presentations, hands-on activities & more. We’ll be there working with students and talking with the community about our work! Join the 2024/25 season We have planned a series of short meetings open to teachers, administrators and superintendents interested in learning more about the program and how to be involved in the 2024/25 school year.
