Learn how objects really moveIn this workshop, we’ll look in depth at how push and pull forces act to move objects… especially toys! Also, explore what variables impact friction between two surfaces and how this impacts object movement. Rotational forces are explored in a variety of objects as well as we spend time ensuring that the kids understand how inertia works. Newton would be happy here! |

Online Class Version
We’ve run live interactive distance programs since 2010 and are highly experienced in making online classes engaging for kids on a variety of web conferencing platforms.
- Activities may vary from those listed for the face-to-face version and will be tailored to age groups attending online.
- Upon booking, you will receive a PDF outlining the materials that you can have on hand to make the workshop more interactive. It’s not a problem if you can’t source all of the materials, as we’ll have these on hand for the workshop
- Full child protections are in place
- We usually connect to classes & homes via Zoom, however if you wish to use a different software we can work with you on getting the connection live. Please see our Online Science Classes & Conditions
- Simply connect your device to a data projector or TV for kids onsite to see the program. We can also cater for kids joining from their home too!
- We usually connect to kids in their homes via Zoom, however if you wish to use a different software we can work with you on getting the connection live.
If you connect with us via Zoom
- Full system requirements for Zoom here
- Each child should test their Zoom connection here.

Science Workshop Activities
Spin spin spin
Once the disks spin they hold their angle due to inertia
Rocket carts
For every action there's an equal & opposite action
Mega hoberman spin
As collapsing spheres spin they speed up...why?
Space station twirl
Learn how gyroscopes are used on International Space Station
Gyrating gyros
Create balance in the gyroscopes with a bit of speed
Skateboard shuffle
Investigate push and pull forces
Pendulum swing
Does the weight or length of string affect the speed?
Rocket launch
Release pressure to make it fly!
Euler's disc
A lack of friction allows movement to go for a long time
Magnetic levitators
Levitate the magnets and watch them spin with very low friction
Magnet mayhem
Investigate the interaction of a variety of magnets
Dropper poppers
Store and release energy with a spring!
Vortex fog rings
Transfer force with air vortices

I just wanted to pass on how much the staff and students really enjoyed it and how perfect it was to launch our science week activities. The students were enthralled, educated and entertained – a perfect trifecta!
-Caulfield Grammar School – Big Science Big FunThanks so much for presenting at our school on Monday. Our students enjoyed the show.
-Greenvale Primary School – Big Science Big FunFizzics Education curated a thoughtful and hands-on experience for the children, incorporating practical, skill-based learning activities and followed by a science presentation at the end of the event involving liquid nitrogen. This was delivered safely and effectively, capturing both the children and the parents for the duration of the presentation.
-Macquarie Bank – Family Fun DayFizzics Education ran a show today at our school and it was wonderful. He was a great facilitator and the show was age appropriate and well done.
