About

Learn more about an international science competition for high school students, where they can propose an experiment, which can be performed using a real particle accelerator. Winners are invited each year to visit CERN or DESY for two weeks with all costs covered to perform their proposed experiments together with professional scientists at a world-class particle physics laboratory.
About the Beamline for Schools Competition
The CERN Beamline for Schools (BL4S) is an official competition powered by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Geneva, Switzerland. It is open for all high-school students around the world. The competition invites teams of high-school students to propose a scientific experiment that they want to perform. Teams may be composed of students from a single school or a number of schools working together.
