Ecolinc is one of several science & technology innovation centres in Victoria. In this episode, we chat with Bob Hartmann, a highly experienced science teacher who guides us through what is on offer at Ecolinc and his thoughts on helping students understand more about our world.
About Bob Hartmann
Bob has been teaching Science and specializing in Chemistry for over 30 years. Having taught at a number of secondary colleges and two specialist science centres in Victoria, he has considerable experience in the teaching chemistry, in particular the instrumentation component of VCE Chemistry. He has taught across both Primary and Secondary Science and Maths curriculum areas and has considerable experience in program design and implementation.
About EcoLinc
Ecolinc was established in 2005 in Bacchus Marsh west of Melbourne. It provides a wide range of exciting and engaging curriculum programs for P-12 students and teachers, addressing the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (AusVELS). The award-winning Ecolinc facility incorporates innovative ecologically sustainable design (ESD) elements, providing the perfect venue and model for environmental teaching and learning. Ecolinc is set within a created indigenous grassy/woodland landscape featuring a model wetland, designed to intercept and filter stormwater, and to aid in cooling the facility in summer.
With interviews with leading science educators and STEM thought leaders, this science education podcast is about highlighting different ways of teaching kids within and beyond the classroom. It’s not just about educational practice & pedagogy, it’s about inspiring new ideas & challenging conventions of how students can learn about their world!
