Teaching ideas for the Brushtail Possum replica
- The Brushtail possum is found throughout Eucalyptus woodland. Students can research the ecology of possums and map their distribution. This would make a great science poster!
- What is the difference between a possum and an opossum? Students can find out!
- If you’re in Australia, look around your home or school grounds for evidence of possum dreys. A possum drey is a nest a possum builds in a tree. Take photos and share with the class!
- They are cute little Australian mammals, however ask a New Zealand resident about them and they might say a different story! Why? Possums have been brought to New Zealand and are now a pest species. Have student research the impacts of invasive species.
