Teaching ideas for the colour change mood ring
- Try placing the ring in iced water, warm water and hot water. Use the results to work out which children have the coldest and warmest hands.
- Learn how heat-sensitive printing works to produce the colour change mood ring.
- Also known as thermochromism, find out about how the chameleon grasshopper changes colour due to heat
- Discuss the difference between opaque, translucent and transparent materials.
- Run an experiment which determines which colour absorbs more heat. Place a thermometer on different coloured tiles or pieces of paper or alternatively add ice to different coloured materials and see which melt first in the sun.

This was delivered safely and effectively, capturing both the children and the parents for the duration of the presentation.
